Emily Weisslitz

Emily Weisslitz is a Partner in MKCI’s New York City and Florham Park, NJ offices and Assistant Director of the firm’s New York General Liability Department. As part of her practice, Emily represents various public entities and school districts in claims ranging from negligent hiring, negligent supervision, harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB), sexual assault pursuant to the New York Child Victims Act (CVA), and claims specific to dangerous conditions and resource allocation pursuant to New Jersey’s Title 59.

Emily also focuses her practice in the defense of general liability matters, including dram shop claims, employment discrimination and termination claims, professional liability, personal injury, construction defect, construction site accident claims, maritime claims, municipal liability, product liability, premises liability and toxic tort claims. Her clients have included national owners and operators of commercial properties in premises liability litigation that has also involved claims for contractual indemnification, additional insured coverage and breach of contract. She is experienced in defending manufacturers of consumer products and industrial machinery and equipment against products liability claims. She has also defended manufacturers of chemicals and enzymes in environmental tort litigation.

Emily is also experienced in representing insurers, employee benefit plans, plan fiduciaries, and third-party administrators in connection with disputes relating to employee benefits (life, health and disability, pension and others) arising under both common law and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

In addition to her litigation experience, Emily is also a member of MKCI’s Leadership Committee.

On a personal level, Emily is a tennis enthusiast, devoted crossword puzzle solver, and enjoys dabbling in various kitchen experiments involving baked good.

Emily obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Chicago.
