Armando Cabral

Senior Partner, Luanda at McKinsey & Company

Armando is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Luanda office and has worked with numerous corporate and government clients. He has focused on the telecommunications, travel and logistics, and energy industries.

Armando has worked extensively with telecommunications operators in Africa, Europe, and Latin America on corporate strategy, regulation, new-product development, sales and marketing strategy, technology and network strategy, and international expansion. One of his areas of focus is product design and pricing in the residential segment of the industry. He has worked with both new and incumbent companies on product portfolio issues covering all areas from voice and broadband portfolios to IPTV and TV offer design, fiber rollout, mobile offers, and convergent offers.

Beyond telecommunications, Armando has worked in Africa for more than 8 years, mainly in Angola but also in Algeria, Cape Verde, Morocco, and Senegal. In Angola, he had dedicated a significant effort to helping major companies and key public-sector institutions accelerate the country’s economic development.

In the transportation sector, for example, he led the design of a national air-transportation strategy and helped turn around an African airline through a transformation program that affected all areas of the company.

Armando’s work in the energy sector includes developing a national energy strategy for an African country, advising on the merger of two private oil companies, and developing a strategic plan for a downstream oil company.
