Penny Mercadante

Chief Human Resources Officer at Michael Baker International

Ms. Mercadante is Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer for Michael Baker International. She oversees human resources, including talent acquisition, team member engagement and the development of the high-performance culture and teams critical to Michael Baker’s business success.

Her experience spans more than 22 years and includes executive-level Human Resource roles as well as consulting. She formerly served as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Administration at ServiceLink. In this role she was responsible for strategic planning and execution, talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, HR technology, corporate training, payroll, health and wellness, and the overall development of a world-class organization from a human capital perspective. Penny also oversaw all property construction and lease negotiation, as well as facilities administration.

Prior to ServiceLink, Ms.Mercadante spent nine years as the Vice President of Human Resources for Pitt Ohio Express. While at Pitt Ohio, she earned the 2009 Excellence in Human Resource Management Award presented by the American Trucking Association. The prestigious award is for success in implementing and supporting far-reaching benefits, compensation, incentive and training programs that promote diversity, employee pride and excellence.

Ms. Mercadante has served as a consultant for Lead First as well as her own company, Creating Impact for Business Success, where she offered training programs and individualized customized coaching for all aspects of professional development and communications.

Additionally, the Society of Human Resources Management certifies Ms. Mercadante with the designation of Senior Certified Profession (SHRM-SCP) and has been recognized by the HR Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Ms. Mercadante is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh, Class XXIV. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Human Development from Ohio Wesleyan University.
