Jan Rinzema

Jan Rinzema currently serves as First Secretary at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, representing the Kingdom of the Netherlands at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and other Vienna-based UN organizations since September 2020. Prior to this role, Jan held various positions, including Senior Policy Officer in the Department for Stability and Humanitarian Aid, focusing on irregular migration and diaspora involvement, from October 2016 to September 2020. Jan's extensive experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs includes senior policy roles covering Bulgaria, Romania, Kosovo, Slovenia, Central Asia, and involvement in significant events such as the Nuclear Security Summit in 2014. Jan also worked as Senior Treaty Lawyer at Erasmus University Rotterdam and served as an Associate Professor of international law. Jan holds a Master's degree in Law from the University of Groningen and has additional education from Université de Poitiers and Stedelijk Gymnasium Leeuwarden.
