Max Carnecchia

Max Carnecchia is the current CEO of Mitek Systems. Prior to their current role, they served as the CEO of Illuminate Education from October 2017 to July 2018. Max was brought in as the change agent CEO to transition to the next stage from startup to scale company. In under one year, they updated the strategy, upgraded the leadership team, brought clarity to their operating approach and successfully executed four strategic acquisitions - eduCLIMBER, IO Education, SchoolCity and Alpine Achievement. All while maintaining the strong mission and culture associated with this EdTech leader.

Before Illuminate Education, Carnecchia served as the Chief Executive Officer of Dassault Systemes BIOVIA from April 2014 to September 2017.

Carnecchia has extensive experience in leading and scaling companies in the software industry. Under their leadership, Illuminate Education grew from 175 employees to over 500, with the respective growth (organic and acquired) in revenue and turned from loss making to significant ebitda profitability.

Illuminate Education is the market-leading Software as a Service (SaaS) student assessment and reporting platform used by K-12 administrators and educators to measure, analyze and subsequently improve classroom and school-wide leaning. Illuminate is a portfolio company of Insight Venture Partners.

Max Carnecchia has a Bachelors of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
