David Rios Ferreira

David Rios Ferreira is a prominent visual artist and educator currently serving as the Director of Young Learners at The Museum of Modern Art since October 2023. With an extensive career that began in May 2004 with the establishment of David Rios Ferreira Studio, Rios Ferreira's work encompasses mixed media drawings and sculptures that explore themes of identity, race, nation, sexuality, and gender through a fusion of appropriated imagery. Previous roles include Director of Public Programs and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Children's Museum of Manhattan, where Rios Ferreira developed engaging experiences for families. As a guest curator, Rios Ferreira has organized multiple exhibitions across various galleries and institutions, focusing on contemporary art and social issues. Rios Ferreira holds a BFA in Fine Arts from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, earned between 2000 and 2004.
