John Gabbert

John Gabbert is the founder and CEO of PitchBook Data, a provider of data and analysis on the private capital markets. John has over 15 years of experience in the private equity and venture capital industries.

Prior to PitchBook, John was a managing director at Dow Jones, where they oversaw the VentureOne group and was responsible for providing news, data and research on global private equity and venture capital activity. John also served as the vice president of worldwide research for VentureOne and The Private Equity Analyst. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of the research department, including the development and production of market analysis, company reports and custom research projects.

Before joining VentureOne, John was the director of research at an economic consulting firm specializing in the analysis of venture capital investments. John has also worked as a financial analyst at a venture capital firm.

John Gabbert's educational career includes a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the University of Washington with concentrations in finance and marketing.
