John Fischer possesses extensive experience in education and leadership, currently serving as the Interim Associate Vice President for Indigenization & Decolonization, alongside roles as Director of the Iniskim Centre and Executive Advisor for Indigenization at Mount Royal University since July 2014. In this capacity, John leads initiatives to enhance academic support for Indigenous students, managing programs such as the Medicine Trail Program and the Aboriginal Education Program. Previously, John held a board position at The Calgary Foundation from June 2014 to June 2023 and served as Principal at Forest Lawn High School from February 1981 to June 2014, overseeing a diverse student population of 1550. John holds a Master of Education from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor's degree in Science from the University of Alberta.
