Steve serves as client service manager and market lead for state and federal clients in the state of Illinois. In this role, he leads the expansion of our services to new clients across the state and continues to assist existing clients with community visioning, strategic planning, grant writing, public involvement and comprehensive economic development strategy and implementation. With more than 10 years of economic development experience, he excels in providing support for business retention and expansion opportunities as well as infrastructure improvement initiatives.
Communities have benefited from Steve’s ability to earn grant funding. For example, he helped Whiteside County, Ill., ($250,000), Matherville, Ill., ($75,000) and Rapids City, Ill., ($75,000) receive Illinois Disaster Recovery Planning Funds. He also aided the City of Keithsburg, Ill., in receiving well over $5 million in grant funding support for street, water system and other infrastructure improvements. Additionally, Steve worked with the Village of Port Byron, Ill., to complete water main and sewer main expansion projects through use of the EPA’s State Revolving Fund (SRF) dollars in conjunction with local funding support.
Steve is also skilled in community surveying. In the Village of Matherville, he developed a Community Development Block Grant survey—followed by coordination of the distribution, collection and tabulation of the survey results. Before joining MSA, he served as the economic development director for Blackhawk Hills Economic Development District in Illinois.
A native of Savanna, Ill., Steve earned his degree in business at Clinton Community College. He is involved in the Illinois Rural Water Association.
