Joanna Capps

Joanna Capps currently serves as the Director of Civic Outreach and Programs at the National Archives Foundation since October 2025. Prior experience includes roles as a Program Specialist for EDSITEment at the National Endowment for the Humanities from April 2021 to June 2025, and as a World Issues Lecturer and Curriculum Contributor at Active Minds between January 2020 and April 2021. Joanna held multiple positions at the White House Historical Association from October 2015 to March 2019, including Director of Education. Previous experience also encompasses educational roles at various schools, including a Modern World History and U.S. Government Teacher at Washington Latin Public Charter School and teaching English at both Fairfax County Public Schools and District of Columbia Public Schools. Joanna Capps holds a Master of Arts in History from American University, a Master of Education in Middle Grades Education from Western Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Studies in the Humanities from The Ohio State University.
