Gael Almeida GarciaNoriega serves as the Executive Director for Latin America at the National Geographic Society since June 2017. Prior to this role, Gael worked as a freelance consultant for Independiente, focusing on institutional development and environmental conservation from September 2016 to May 2017. Gael held leadership positions at Instituto El Mangle A.C. as Director from 2014 to 2016 and at Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturaleza, A.C. as Director of Development and Institutional Relations from 2009 to 2012. Additional experience includes working as the Coordinator of International Affairs at the Comisión Nacional para el Conocimiento y Uso de la Biodiversidad from 2007 to 2009 and as the North America TRAFFIC Officer at World Wildlife Fund from 2005 to 2007. Gael began a career in project coordination at Fundación para la Educación Ambiental (FUNDEA) from 2002 to 2004. Educational achievements include a Master of Science in Conservation Biology from UCL and a Licentiate degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México.
