Duncan Hudson

Business & Technology Fellow at National Instruments

As a business and technology fellow, Duncan Hudson collaborates with business and technology leaders across NI to catalyze and guide long-term innovation across NI’s open, software-defined platform. He designed and led many innovations in that platform and holds 17 patents, primarily associated with LabVIEW technologies.

Hudson has guided NI to success by leading the development of LabVIEW, NI’s flagship software product, which has been recognized by major industry publications with more than 100 national and international awards over the past 20 years. He also led NI’s Vision-to-Architecture team, which is the team responsible for ensuring that NI solved the toughest technology challenges for its customers while still keeping the platform whole.

In 2011, Hudson received the Edith and Peter O’Donnell Award in Technology Innovation from The Academy of Medicine, Engineering, and Science of Texas (TAMEST). This honor recognizes rising Texas researchers who address the essential role that science and technology play in society, and whose work meets the highest standards of exemplary professional performance, creativity, and resourcefulness. Hudson received this award for his work in technology innovation in graphical programming and rapid application development for engineering and scientific applications in test, measurement, control, and embedded system design.

Hudson is passionate about creating systems that make engineers and scientists more productive and is inspired whenever he hears about rapid engineering and scientific advancements, especially when powered by NI’s contributions.

Hudson holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in computer science from The University of Texas at Austin, where he focused on parallel computing. He also currently serves on the university’s computer science and electrical and computer engineering advisory boards.
