Fumihiko Urano

Working Group Member, Rare Disease Center Of Excellence at National Organization for Rare Disorders

Fumihiko Urano serves as the Samuel E. Schechter Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine, where involvement includes attending physician roles for the Wolfram Syndrome and Related Disorders Clinic and the Endocrinology Genetics Clinic, focusing on genetic diagnosis and patient care. In addition to this position, Fumihiko Urano is a member of the scientific advisory boards for Emerald Biotherapeutics and Opris Biotechnologies, and actively participates in the National Organization for Rare Disorders as a member of the Rare Disease Center of Excellence. As the founder and president of CURE4WOLFRAM, INC., efforts are directed toward advancing research and support for Wolfram syndrome. Fumihiko Urano's academic background includes an extensive research history at UMass Chan Medical School and prior training at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Keio University Hospital, with expertise in molecular mechanisms and genetics related to various metabolic and neurodegenerative disorders.
