Lasith Nanayakkara

Lasith Nanayakkara is the Chief Transformation Officer & Chief Information Security Officer at Nations Trust Bank PLC. Lasith has over 17 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry.

Lasith began their career at Nations Trust Bank in June 2002 as the Chief Information Officer. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of strategic IT planning, implementation and support as an integral component of business plan. Lasith was successful in creating a high performance team from the ground up, and developing and aligning the corporate technology vision and strategy to the bank’s corporate vision, goals and objectives. Under their leadership, the IT department underwent a turnaround in performance and service levels, and was transformed into a strategic business partner. Lasith championed and implemented all IT initiatives identified in the corporate business strategy, and steered multiple projects to completion within time and budget. Lasith also strengthened the relationship with the end-user community, established controls and reporting devices / dashboards to monitor IT performance, motivated team members and achieved results.

During their tenure at Nations Trust Bank, Lasith was responsible for the successful implementation of a number of key projects, including the Core-Banking System (FlexCube), Oracle Financials, Real time disaster recovery, ATM network, Master Card and Commercial Bank connectivity for both Debit and Amex Cards, Management Information System (MIS), HRMS and Lease Management System, Internet / Tele / SMS Banking, Corporate Web Site, Intranet, POS based banking, Multi Functional ATM Network, Credit Cards Processing System for American Express, Call Center, Development Center and Service Desk, Alternate channels (IPG, eWallet, Door Step Banking), and State of the art Data Center. Lasith also drove the organisation towards eTransactions (Mobile Bank using POS and PDA technology), and was responsible for the development of award winning business applications (iCollect, iApply).

Under Lasith’s guidance, Nations Trust Bank continued to grow its business from 3 branches to 40 branches. During their time at the bank, they managed staff turnover at just 1%.

Lasith Nanayakkara's educational background includes a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Technology and Accounting from Western Sydney University, as well as secondary studies in GCE A/L from Ananda College in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
