Alison Krupnick has worked at the intersection of government, media, and the nonprofit sector as a diplomat, economic development professional, reporter, editor, and communications director, and as a strategic communications consultant for business.
As a Foreign Service officer with the U.S. Department of State, she served in India, worked in a refugee resettlement program in Thailand and Vietnam, and was Country Officer for Sri Lanka and Maldives and Political-Military Officer for Egypt. She served as Emerging Markets Program Manager for the Washington State Department of Commerce and managed the Washington State Trade Office in Vladivostok, Russia.
In the education sector, she covered regional and national education news as a reporter and editor, served as editorial director for a research and policy center, developed fundraising communications for a large, public university, and served as Marketing and Communications Director for a college access program serving underrepresented students.
An active volunteer, she launched a regional Solutions Journalism community, and has served in leadership roles at several schools and on two nonprofit Boards. Her writing has been published in a variety of newspapers, magazines, and literary journals.
