Haroula Ballas

Haroula Ballas is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in the insurance and financial services sectors. Currently serving as Associate General Counsel at New York Life Insurance Company since July 2022, Ballas previously held multiple senior roles at MetLife from September 2008 to July 2022, including Vice President of US Operational Risk Management, where responsibilities included implementing an operational risk management framework and providing strategic advisory support. In the role of Head of Regulatory Strategies & Product Compliance at MetLife Holdings, Ballas led a team focused on regulatory adherence and product compliance while optimizing the economic value of a closed block of retail business. Earlier in her career, as Assistant General Counsel, Ballas managed a team advising on product design and compliance matters for MetLife Direct. Prior experience includes serving as Vice President & Assistant General Counsel at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Ballas holds a degree from Cornell Law School and a bachelor's degree from Barnard College.
