Executive Director, Audience Insights & Strategy at The New York Times

Brian Brett is currently the Executive Director of Audience Insights & Strategy at The New York Times. Prior to this, they were the Director of Consumer Research & Insights at CNNMoney from March 2007 to January 2011. There, they led a team of researchers in providing consumer insights to guide editorial direction, brand positioning, and support advertising sales. Brian also managed cross-media advertising effectiveness research across TV, web, print, and mobile platforms, integrating behavioral analytics, survey data, and third-party research to demonstrate advertising impact.

Before their time at CNNMoney, Brian Brett was the Senior Custom Research Group Manager at Conde Nast Publications from October 2001 to March 2007. While there, they oversaw a team of eight researchers who designed and executed both ad hoc custom studies and ongoing proprietary tracking studies for Conde Nast's 18 consumer magazines. Brian also worked with the sales and editorial teams to develop new product ideas and positioning strategies based on consumer insights.

Throughout their career, Brian Brett has initiated and managed various website usability studies to optimize site navigation and improve consumer satisfaction. Brian has also developed and tested social media strategies to increase site traffic, awareness, and brand relevance among younger consumers. In addition, they have implemented innovative research technologies including biometrics, neurometrics, and eye-tracking, as well as social media monitoring and sentiment analysis.
