NXTCOMM announces the formation of new Board of Directors
Communications technology company NXT Communications Corporation (NXTCOMM) has announced it has formed a new Board of Directors to help guide its next phase of growth. The five-person board has more than a century of experience in the technology, aerospace, manufacturing, retail, and satellite sectors, and will also help with the company’s planned commercial market introduction. "NXTCOMM will benefit immensely from the business leadership and guidance of these directors," said new Board Chairman Robert (Scott) Zimmer. "This is the right board to support the management team at this critical stage in NXTCOMM's growth. The directors collectively bring a breadth of expertise and relationships across aerospace and defense and the broader connectivity market that will allow us to execute on our strategy and deliver a new high-performance antenna to meet the explosive demand for mobile broadband with speed and scale." Mr. Zimmer has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the satellite sector. He was the founding president of EchoStar International Corp., before going on to serve as a board advisor for EchoStar Communications Corp. He also has experience consulting in the mobile communications and IoT sectors, advising global CEOs on growth strategies. NXTCOMM co-founder and CEO David Horton will also sit on the board. Mr. Horton has more than 20 years of experience leading satellite communications companies, including launching NXTCOMM in 2017, and working with both antenna and leading connectivity hardware and service providers. Stephen Newell is the second full-time NXTCOMM staff member to sit on the board. He has been the company’s Chief Commercial Officer since March 2020, bringing more than 25 years of experience as a satellite communications entrepreneur. A seasoned business development executive, Mr. Newell has also held senior leadership roles with companies including FLYHT and TrueNorth Avionics (now part of Satcom Direct). Curtis Reusser joins the board with more than 30 years of diverse experience across the aerospace and defence sectors. He is CEO and chairman at Esterline Technologies Corporation, and led a multi-billion dollar Aircraft Systems division at United Technologies. As well as that, he oversaw the Electronic Systems Segment at Goodrich Corporation. Lawrence Soriano comes to the NXTCOMM board with a different set of expertise in his 40 year career serving the fisheries trade in Alaska. His experience on fishing freighters led him into the field of maritime connectivity, and he has gone on to become president of shipping services company Western Pioneer, Inc..
