Nic Basson has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. They are currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Old Street Digital since August 2021. Prior to this, they held various roles at Invesco EMEA from 2017 to 2021, including Marketing Planning and Strategy Lead, Head of UK Retail and EMEA ETF marketing, and Head of EMEA ETF Marketing. Before joining Invesco EMEA, Nic worked as the Head of Marketing at Source ETF from 2012 to 2017. They also gained experience as an Equity Sales professional at Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2010 to 2012. Other notable roles include Research Analyst at Internos Global Investors in 2010, Acquisition Associate at AURA Investment Management in 2009, and Research Analyst at Finanical Times Group - mergermarket in 2009. Prior to these roles, Nic worked as an EMEA Research Analyst at ING Financial Markets from 2007 to 2008 and as an Analyst at i capital in early 2007. They began their career as a Consultant at XA International Trade Advisors from 2004 to 2006, where they provided international trade clients with a range of services and brokered government funds for the private sector.
Nic Basson has a diverse education history. In 2002, they began their studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Mathematics. Nic completed this program in 2004. Following this, in 2005, they attended the same university and obtained a Bachelor of Economic Science (B.Econ.Sc) degree in Economic Science & Advanced Maths of Finance. In 2006, they continued their education at the University of the Witwatersrand and earned a Master of Commerce (M.Comm) degree in Economics, which they completed in 2007. Most recently, in 2021, Nic attended Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, where they completed a Fintech programme.
