Ben Carnall

Ben Carnall has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Ben is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Omni Creator Products since February 2023. Previously, they served as the Chief Technology Officer at RocketWerkz from July 2022 to February 2023 and as a Technical Director from July 2019 to August 2022. At RocketWerkz, they established practices, standards, and processes for technical departments, led the technical development team, and architectured fundamental systems and technologies for Icarus.

Before RocketWerkz, Ben worked as a Software Engineer (Rendering / Art Pipeline) at Soul Machines from January 2017 to July 2019. Prior to that, they were a Software Engineer at Aurora44 from February 2016 to December 2016. Ben also has experience as a Software Engineering Lecturer at Media Design School, where they organized, created, and delivered course content related to graphics programming, physics programming, and C++ low-level development using various SDKs.

Additionally, Ben has served as a Board Member at NZGDA, where they organized events promoting game development within New Zealand and worked with local developers to promote their work. Ben also worked as a Game Developer at Project Autismus and as a Level Designer / Brand Ambassador at Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand, where they designed, created, and showcased levels for Little Big Planet and acted as a brand ambassador at promotional events.

Ben Carnall attended Rosmini College from 2003 to 2010, where they obtained their NCEA Level 3 qualification. In 2012, they enrolled in the Media Design School and completed a Diploma of Interactive Gaming, specializing in C++ game programming. Ben continued their education at the Media Design School until 2014, earning a Bachelor of Software Engineering, Game Development. Currently, they hold a certification for a Bachelor of Software Engineering, although the institution and specific date of obtaining the certification are unknown.
