Handre van der Merwe is a Principal Consultant at Open Box Software. Prior to that, they were an Information Security and Cloud Consultant at BUI from March 2016 to March 2019.

At BUI, Handre provided consulting services to customers on various security initiatives, including POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act), GDPR, Security and awareness in the organisation, Security Implementation, Office 365 and others technologies. Handre was also responsible for delivering Cyber Security Assessments, responding to RFI, RFQ and RFP requests, and account management within select accounts.

In addition to their consulting work, Handre also managed all marketing for the company and activities within the marketing department. This included developing the marketing strategy for the company in line with company objectives, co-ordinating marketing campaigns with sales activities, creation and publication of all marketing material, and planning and implementing promotional campaigns. Handre was also responsible for brand management and corporate identity, preparing online and print marketing campaigns, and monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of marketing communications.

Handre van der Merwe has a Bcom HONS in Information Systems from the University of Cape Town, a Bcom in Informatics from the University of Johannesburg, and a Web Design Certificate in Web Page, Digital/Multimedia and Information Resources Design from Friends of Design. Handre also has Matric in English, Afrikaans, Maths, Science, Computer Science, Accounting from Pretoria Boys High School. In addition, they are certified from HubSpot in Inbound Marketing and from (ISC)² in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
