Mila Cerecina

Advisor to the President, Executive Office at Open Society Foundations

Mila Cerecina is advisor to the president of the Open Society Foundations. Previously, Cerecina was special assistant to the president.

From 2011 to 2016, Cerecina was a country engagement manager with the Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management at Harvard Kennedy School, where she led the Indicators for Development: Safety and Justice project work in Bangladesh and Ethiopia, supporting efforts of criminal justice agencies to improve security and justice outcomes. Her work encompassed issues of community policing, sense of safety, violence against women, and performance management. She has collaborated on a number of justice, security, and performance management projects with the World Bank, UN, BRAC, and the Brookings Institution. From 2007 to 2009, Cerecina served as the research director to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in Australia. She served as executive counselor of the New South Wales Young Lawyers, and chair of its Human Rights Committee.

Cerecina completed her MPP at Harvard Kennedy School, with a focus on political and economic development. Cerecina holds an LLB and a BA from the University of Sydney.
