Michael Cheatham

AVP, Orlando Health & Chief Surgical Quality Officer, Orlando Health & Orlando Regional Medical Center at Orlando Health

Board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, Michael L. Cheatham, MD, holds multiple positions at Orlando Health, including chief surgical quality officer at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) and academic chair for the Department of Surgical Education. He is a practicing acute care, trauma and burn surgeon at the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center.

Mike joined the surgical team at Orlando Health in 1996 and is a member of Orlando Health Medical Group Surgery. He has been on the faculty of the Department of Surgical Education at Orlando Health since 1996 and currently holds faculty appointments at the University of Florida, Florida State University and the University of Central Florida.

He earned a bachelor’s degree with departmental honors from Stanford University (California). Mike attended medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (Nashville, Tennessee) and completed his general surgery residency training, as well as a two-year surgical critical care fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Mike is active in medical missions and international disaster relief through Samaritan’s Purse and World Medical Mission, Inc., where he has served on the board of directors since 2008. He has volunteered his time as a short-term missionary in Africa, Asia and South America since 1986.
