Robert Mohney has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Robert has held various leadership positions in different companies and organizations. Currently, they are working at Owlstone Medical as the Head of Clinical and Translational Science, where they lead a team of scientists in discovering on-breath biomarkers and developing diagnostic tests. Additionally, they have experience working at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences as a National Research Service Award Fellow and a Pharmacology Research Associate Training Award Fellow. Robert started their career as a research assistant at Case Western Reserve University and completed their graduate research focusing on peripheral nervous system plasticity.

Robert Mohney earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry from John Carroll University between 1985 and 1989. Robert later pursued further education in Neuroscience, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from Case Western Reserve University from 1991 to 1997. Robert also obtained a certification in Introduction to Operations Management from Coursera in 2019.
