Anne-Katrin Emde

Anne-Katrin Emde is a highly experienced bioinformatician with a strong academic background and extensive professional expertise in bioinformatics. Currently serving as Principal Applications Bioinformatician at Oxford Nanopore Technologies since September 2025, Anne-Katrin has a diverse career, including roles such as Director of Bioinformatics at Variant Bio from February 2019 to September 2025. Previous positions include Bioinformatics Consulting at the New York Genome Center and various roles from Bioinformatics Scientist to Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at the same institution. Anne-Katrin's research includes the development of algorithms for next-generation sequencing data analysis and software development for the SeqAn C++ library. Anne-Katrin holds a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the International Max Planck Research School for Computational Biology and Scientific Computing, a Master of Science from Freie Universität Berlin, and a Bachelor of Science from the same institution.
