Pager Strengthens Advisory Board With Appointments of Doug Blackwell and Dr. Alan Spiro

Virtual care provider Pager, who offers triage, telemedicine, prescriptions, appointments, transportation, and after-care follow-up services to users, has announced the appointment of Doug Blackwell and Dr. Alan Spiro to the company's Advisory Board.

Blackwell is a senior IT leader with over 35 years of experience in the financial services, high technology, telecommunications, health care, and professional service industries. He most recently served as the Chief Information Officer of Horizon BlueCross BlueShield of NJ and was also formally on the Board of Directors at Navinet, Zipari, Abacus Insights, and NASCO. Joining the Advisory Board, Blackwell will look to help guide Pager's payer data and systems integration roadmap moving forward.

Dr. Spiro also brings over 35 years of experience in the healthcare, medical and insurance industries to the team at Pager. Some of his previous experience includes being the co-founder, SVP and Chief Medical Officer of Accolade, Inc.; VP and Chief Medical Officer National Accounts at Anthem, Inc.; and a founder of AIM, (acquired by Anthem). Dr. Spiro will serve as an Executive Clinical Advisor for Pager, and in the role, will advise and support product, overall strategy, clinical guidance, and business development.

Pager hires three key leaders

Health software company Pager has welcomed three new executives to its leadership team. Matt Kempler has been hired as Chief Financial Officer, Fabian Alvarez has been named Vice President, Latin America, and Joe Lee is the company’s new General Counsel. “The complexities and fragmentation of today’s healthcare system lead to billions of wasted dollars, poor consumer experiences and unsatisfactory clinical outcomes,” said Pager CEO Walter Jin. “Pager’s virtual care platform is changing this dynamic for the better, enabling payers and providers to engage their members and patients with a personalized, connected care experience, like having a doctor in the family. As CFO, he will be responsible for setting Pager’s financial strategy, including fundraising, merchandising and business operations. Mr. Alvarez has more than 15 years of experience in the Latin American insurance and healthcare industries, most recently as Head of Transformation and New Service Development at insurance company Seguros SURA. In his new role, he will oversee Pager’s expansion into the Latin American market, where the company has already seen significant growth in the past 12 months. Mr. Lee comes to Pager with more than 18 years of legal experience, most recently as Senior Director of Business Affairs and Legal at health company Rally Health. As General Counsel, he will be responsible for all of Pager’s legal and risk management functions, as well as providing strategic counsel on business and operational matters.
