Kirk Hietpas has a diverse work experience in the medical, research, and software engineering fields. Kirk started their career in 2013 as a Patient and Resource Transport for Bellin Health and a Direct Support Professional for Residential Services, Inc. (RSI). In 2014, they began working as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where they conducted research focusing on nonnative earthworm densities in disturbed vs intact Northern Minnesota forests and studied the adaptability of White Pines in disturbed forest sites. In 2016, they worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Essentia Health, and then returned to the University of Minnesota Duluth as a Research Assistant, where they assisted with research studying oxidative response signaling using a combination of imaging, genetic and molecular approaches. In 2018, they began working as a Flow Cytometry Lab Technologist at the University of Utah. In 2020, they became a Masters Student at the Software Development University of Utah- School of Computing. In 2021, they worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Navitaire, an Amadeus company. Currently, they are a Junior Software Engineer at PassiveLogic.
Kirk Hietpas completed their Bachelor's Degree in Biology, General from the University of Minnesota Duluth between 2013 and 2016. Kirk then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology, General from the Univeristy of Minnesota-Duluth. Finally, they obtained a Master's degree in Software Development from the University of Utah.
