Healthcare company PDI has welcomed Michael Yang as its new Senior Vice President of Research and Development. In his new role, Dr. Yang will oversee all of the company’s R&D business, with a focus on developing healthcare, food safety, and public health innovations.

“Michael brings a deep orientation to customer-inspired innovation and customer-valued technology solutions,” said PDI President and Chief Operating Officer Kent Davies. “As we continue to navigate the challenges of the current pandemic, PDI is even more focused on protecting the health of the customers and communities we serve. We are proud to strengthen PDI’s R&D expertise with Michael’s vast experience leading corporate technology strategy and new product portfolio development as we advance our growth strategy and rapidly respond to meet our customers’ evolving needs.”

Dr. Yang has experience consulting and advising a range of medical technology companies, helping them to grow their products and innovate new programs and processes. He has held senior R&D roles at global companies including Cardiovascular Systems, Johnson & Johnson, and Abbott Labs / St. Jude Medical, and most recently served as Vice President, Global Product Development and Program Management Office, Specialty Surgical Division, at Integra Lifesciences.

His successful track record of driving growth through product, service, and business model innovation will be instrumental as we execute our commercial strategy and deliver on the rapidly-evolving requirements of our customers and the multiple market segments and individuals that they serve.” Mr. Monsoon has more than 20 years of experience as a leader in the healthcare industry, and has spent the last three years as Vice President & General Manager of Peripheral IV Catheter Business at Becton Dickinson. Dr. Regina Benjamin Appointed to PDI Board

Healthcare company PDI has added former U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin to its board of directors. Dr. Benjamin has comprehensive experience promoting health for individuals and wider national communities, and she will play an important role in helping to advance PDI’s infection prevention solutions. “We are proud to welcome Dr. Regina Benjamin to our board of directors, particularly during this time when PDI continues to play a critical role in supplying essential cleaning and disinfecting products and technology solutions to help protect lives worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said PDI Chief Executive Officer Zachary T. Julius. “As PDI evolves and expands, Dr. Benjamin’s career in public health service and expertise as a physician will be invaluable in helping us to successfully execute our long-term strategic growth plans.” Dr. Benjamin served as the 18th U.S. Surgeon General between 2009 and 2013. She is a family physician, founder of Bayou La Batre Rural Health Clinic and a national leader in population and preventive health issues. She currently serves on several corporate boards, and has previously chaired the National Prevention Council, made up of 17-cabinet-level heads of federal agencies. “I am honored to be joining the board of this innovative, family-owned organization that has been at the forefront of infection prevention for decades,” said Dr. Benjamin. “Amid this current public health crisis, there is an even greater need to keep communities safe and protected.
