Thomas Parkinson

Founder, Peapod & Innovation Champion at Peapod Digital Labs

Thomas Parkinson is the Founder of Peapod, and currently serves as Innovation Champion for Peapod Digital Labs, a center of excellence, which drives digital and eCommerce innovation, technology and experience to meet the changing needs of customers of Ahold Delhaize USA's local brands – Food Lion, Giant Food, GIANT/MARTIN’S, Hannaford, Peapod and Stop & Shop.

After co-founding Peapod with his brother Andrew in 1989, Parkinson served 29 years as the company’s Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of System Development & Management. He has more than 30 years of software development experience, specialized in user interface design, application development and database design.

As Peapod’s principal software architect, Parkinson directed consumer product development and technology research and development with responsibility for the company’s Information Technology, Supply Chain and Risk & Development functions.

Prior to these roles, Parkinson worked in sales management and field sales positions with the Proctor & Gamble Co.

Parkinson holds a Bachelor’s degree in fine and studio arts from Wesleyan University and a Master’s degree in industrial design, product design and user interface/user experience design from Pratt Institute.

Thomas is married with two young adult children. He enjoys kiteboarding, biking and generally being anywhere on the water.
