Ryan Surface has over a decade of work experience in GIS, remote sensing, and renewable energy industries. In 2011, they served as the President of the University of Kansas Rock Climbing Club. Ryan then worked as a Research Assistant at the Kansas Applied Remote Sensing Program and developed workflows for automated georeferencing of US General Land Office plat maps. In 2013, they joined Tradewind Energy as a GIS Analyst and worked on renewable energy projects until 2015. In 2017, they worked as a GIS Analyst III at Black & Veatch until they transferred to Surface Spatial Solutions as a Principal and created a "Cost of Failure" algorithm for sewer assets. Ryan Surface attended The University of Kansas from 2007 to 2012, where they earned degrees in Geography and Environmental Studies. Ryan also obtained additional certifications in ArcGIS 10.2 and became a Recreational UAV (Drone) Pilot.
