Eric Shoup

CEO at Peerspace

Eric Shoup is the current CEO at Peerspace, a position they have held since January 2018. Prior to this, Eric was the Chief Operating Officer at Scribd from January 2016 to January 2018. Eric was hired by Scribd to scale their late-stage consumer reading subscription business. During their time at Scribd, the company became profitable and grew its annualized monthly revenue and subscribers by over 50%.

Before joining Scribd, Eric was the Chief Product Officer at Ancestry.com from August 2008 to February 2015. At Ancestry, Eric led product management and design for the company’s global platform and managed several of its ancillary businesses. Under Eric’s leadership, Ancestry grew from $200M in revenue to over $600M and from 700K paying subscribers to over 2.2MM. The company went public in 2009 and then private again 3 years later.

At Ancestry, Eric set the company’s core product strategy and aligned resources, priorities and metrics to execute on strategy. Eric also grew the team of product managers, designers and user researchers from 8 to 65 across two locations. In addition, Eric acted as GM for some of Ancestry's side businesses. Most notably, they had P&L responsibility for Archives.com, which Ancestry purchased for $100M in 2012. During their time as GM, Archives’ revenue grew ~20% CAGR and profitability increased from breakeven to 40% EBITDA margins.

Eric Shoup received a BA in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a minor in Computing.
