Jay Snowden

President & CEO at Penn Entertainment

Jay Snowden joined Penn National Gaming in October 2011 as Senior Vice President-Regional Operations and was later promoted to Chief Operating Officer in January 2014. In March 2017, Mr. Snowden was named President and Chief Operating Officer, and led the Company’s successful margin improvement plan, as well as the integration of the acquisition of Pinnacle Entertainment, which nearly doubled the size of Penn National. In January 2020, Mr. Snowden assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. One of his first actions as CEO was to acquire a minority interest in Barstool Sports, a leading sports media and entertainment company, which is the centerpiece of his vision to evolve Penn National from a retail casino operator into a leading omnichannel provider of retail and interactive gaming, sports betting and entertainment.

Despite the challenges presented by the Coronavirus pandemic in his first few months as CEO, which included the temporary closure of all of the company’s properties, Mr. Snowden successfully navigated Penn National through a series of mitigation efforts and capital raises to help secure the Company’s future.

Prior to joining Penn National, Mr. Snowden was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Caesars and Harrah’s in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and prior to that, held various leadership positions with Caesars in St. Louis, Missouri; San Diego, California; and Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Snowden holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
