Axel Santiago

Axel Santiago is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in environmental health and safety (EHS), risk management, and sustainability strategies. Currently serving as the Director of Sustainability and Wellbeing Strategy for Global Workplace Experience at Pfizer since July 2000, Axel leads initiatives for workplace sustainability across the company's global real estate footprint. Previous roles at Pfizer include Director of Risk Management Services for North America Commercial and Manager positions in EHS for both Latin America and Puerto Rico. Axel has a strong foundation in safety engineering from prior positions at AstraZeneca and American Cyanamid Co., and early career experience as an EHS Engineer at Edison Mission Energy and a Risk Management Engineer at Tropicana Brands Group. Axel earned an MBA from Inter-American University of Puerto Rico and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. In addition, Axel served as a Director on the Board of GrowNYC from 2010 to 2019, focusing on community environmental programs in New York City.
