Barış was appointed General Counsel in March 2016. Prior to his current role, Barış spent 15 years at Yildiz Holding as Legal Director, overseeing corporate legal and financial matters working across both national and global projects. Barış’s experience covers joint ventures, IPOs and all aspects of mergers and acquisitions from due diligence, through anti-trust, compliance and completion arrangements.

Prior to joining Yildiz Holding, Barış spent six years as a lawyer in the Imik law offices in Istanbul, focusing on litigation as well as corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Barış passed the Bar and qualified as an attorney in California in 1995. He spent several years as a practising attorney in the USA before moving to Turkey where he was licenced to practice as a member of the Istanbul Bar Association in 2000. Barış is also Chief Legal Officer for pladis’ sister company, Godiva Chocolatier.

Barış has lived and worked in Turkey, the USA and the UK. He has a BA in Business Administration from Doane College, Nebraska in the USA.
