Sam Kottler

Sam Kottler has over 8 years of experience in the tech industry. Sam began their career in 2012 as a Systems Engineer at Venmo, where they were responsible for the security, stability, and availability of API and web services written in a variety of languages. Sam then moved to Red Hat as an Engineer in Virtualization R&D, where they worked on open source systems automation software and was responsible for release management. In 2014, Sam joined DigitalOcean as a Senior Engineer + Manager and fixed numerous bugs in Linux drivers to reduce hypervisor crash rate by 75%. Sam then joined GitHub in 2016 as a Director of Engineering and Senior Manager of Infrastructure Engineering, where they led the Data Center organization and was responsible for design, deployment, and oversight of the company's physical and cloud infrastructure around the world. In 2020, Sam moved to PlanetScale as the Director of Infrastructure and Security.
