Role Summary:

As Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance you will oversee Prefect's accounting and controls domains including monthly close, expenses, budgeting, AP, AR, payroll, and corporate filings. You will deploy your stellar accounting skills to lead our accounting function through the next chapters of hyper-growth, and work with the Head of Finance and COO to build new processes and improve existing ones. As a senior Ops team member, you'll work with all teams across Prefect, while embodying our positive, high-performance culture.

You will report to our Head of Finance, Thomas.

Expectations (you will):

• Oversee expense management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
• Lead monthly close process, ensuring that journal entries and account reconciliations are reviewed; implement enhancements while promoting an accounting ops culture of speed and thoughtfulness
• Ensure that revenue recognition and commissions results are accurate and compliant with ASC 606 and ASC 340
• Provide expertise on accounting and controls policies that align with strategic priorities and drive process efficiency
• Propose and lead process improvements including automations and system implementations
• Collaborate with Head of Finance to transform and maintain scalable revenue operations (rev rec, commissions, order-to-cash, DSO, professional services billing)
• Run payroll and oversee payroll tax compliance (with Rippling)
• Manage state registrations, corporate filings, tax returns, and responding to compliance inquiries
• Design system to monitor and enforce procurement policies and departmental spending
• Manage our Finance Operations Coordinator and the relationship with our outsourced accounting and tax teams
• Champion our culture and foster a collaborative work environment
• Embody ownership: contribute and advocate for your ideas, while also preventing projects from stalling

Qualifications (you have):

• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience at a top public accounting firm or a VC-backed SaaS company
• Command of U.S. GAAP and the ability to guide appropriate compliance and implementation
• Enthusiasm for automating manual tasks to scalable processes
• A passion for spreadsheets, and experience reducing dependency on manually updated spreadsheets!
