In 2016, they co-founded MAT Research, a biotech startup that developed an improved Monocyte Activation Test for pyrogen testing. The MAT is a substitute for the Rabbit Pyrogen Test and is used for testing parenteral drugs for contamination. Guillermo's role involved utilizing frozen pooled PBMC for this technology.

Guillermo completed their Master of Science (MScBA) degree in Business Administration at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) in 2005. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer/Information Technology Administration and Management from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, where they studied from 1999 to 2004.
