Bjarni Bjarnason

CEO at Reykjavik Energy

CEO Bjarni Bjarnason graduated with a B.Sc. in geology from the University of Iceland in 1981. He then took a licentiate degree in mining engineering from the Luleå University of Technology in Sweden in 1986. Bjarni became CEO on 1 March 2011. Prior to this, he had worked as the CEO of Landsvirkjun Power, a subsidiary of Landsvirkjun, since 2008, and before that had been the managing director of the energy division of Landsvirkjun for a period of seven years. Bjarni has held a variety of management posts in his career, including, among other things, technical director of Iceland Drilling (Jarðboranir hf), managing director of Kísiliðjan in Mývatnssveit and CEO of the ferrosilicon plant Íslenska járnblendifélag in Grundartangi.
