Darren Watt

Darren Watt is the Senior Vice President & General Counsel at Ritchie Bros. Prior to this, they were an Associate - Corporate Finance / M&A at McCarthy Tétrault from January 1999 to December 2004. There, they advised corporations, financial institutions and investment dealers on cross-border, US and domestic public and private debt and equity offerings. Darren also advised public issuers on US and domestic corporate governance and securities regulatory issues. In addition, Darren has experience advising acquirors, targets and special committees on take-over bids, issuer bids, insider bids and going-private transactions. Furthermore, they have advised public and private corporations on implementation of stock option and related incentive plans as well as on mergers and asset acquisitions. Darren has also obtained Competition Bureau approval of major transactions and has advised on competition law matters.

Darren Watt completed their Hons. B.A. in International Relations at the University of Toronto before going on to complete their Doctor of Law (JD) at The University of British Columbia.
