Michael D.

Michael D. serves as Thermal Hydraulics Testing Lead at Rolls-Royce SMR since May 2022, overseeing the thermal hydraulics scaling team and leading engineering efforts in Development Engineering. Prior to this role, Michael held the position of Core Science R&D Lead for Reactor Technology at the National Nuclear Laboratory from November 2016 to April 2022, where a new R&D area was established to support advanced reactor design and operation. Michael also contributed as a Senior Thermal Hydraulics Analyst at the same organization, providing technical leadership and modelling analysis across the nuclear industry. Experience includes a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow role at the University of Leeds, focusing on aerodynamic analysis, and contracting as a Thermofluids Analyst developing thermal hydraulic codes for safety systems. Michael's academic background includes a PhD, an MSc in Computational Fluid Dynamics, and a BSc in Mathematics, all obtained at institutions in the United Kingdom.
