Michael Spangler serves as the Property Management Controller for Rose Community Management. In this role, he provides direction and leadership in the accounting and financial reporting function. He leads the property accounting team members, who are responsible for daily accounting functions, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, debt compliance, financial statement and tax return preparation, and acquisition due diligence. Since joining Rose Community Management in April 2019, Michael has added value to the organization through the application of his nearly two decades of experience in public accounting, primarily serving clients in the real estate management, development, construction, and manufacturing industries.
In his previous roles, Michael has held positions of increasing authority and scope, consistently delivering high-value service and counsel to clients he served. During his time in public accounting, he served as a practice group leader for the Real Estate and Construction Group, and the firm’s historic preservation tax credit subject matter expert. In addition to supporting clients in a variety of aspects of real estate development including acquisition, tax structuring, forecasting, investor syndication, and construction, he also managed the preparation, review, and delivery of financial statement audits and income tax compliance for privately held partnerships and corporations.
Michael holds both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Michael is a member of the Urban Land Institute, where he serves as Treasurer of ULI’s Cleveland District Council. Michael also serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Joseph’s Home, a non-profit medical respite facility located in Cleveland, Ohio.
