Brendan Russell

Lay Trustee at Royal College of General Practitioners

Brendan is a Non Executive Director of UK Asset Resolution (UKAR) and of its subsidiaries, Bradford & Bingley plc and Northern Rock Asset Management plc. UKAR was established by the government to bring together those businesses following their nationalisation.

He was previously the Head of Corporate Finance at the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he led the team responsible for the disposal programme which formed a key component of RBS’s recovery plan, as well as being accountable for strategic reviews of business units and overseeing corporate investments and joint ventures.

He joined RBS from Barclays where he was a Director in the Corporate Development function. He was previously the Head of McKinsey's Corporate Finance Centre in Europe.

Prior experience includes time in retail banking and capital markets and he served as the chief financial adviser to both the water regulator, Ofwat and the Office of Rail Regulation.

He has a degree in psychology, a post-graduate qualification in law and recently completed a Masters in Middle East Studies.
