Lauren Smith

Lauren Smith is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Assistant at Royal Roads University since April 2023, while also serving on the Science & Research Advisory Panel for the Green Burial Council, focusing on conducting research related to green burial practices. Previously, Lauren was the CEO of PolyGone Technologies from June 2017 to February 2023, developing innovative methods to capture microfibres and contributing to sustainability practices. Additional experience includes being a Sessional Instructor at the University of Waterloo and roles as a Research Assistant across various projects, along with early positions such as a Peer Leader at the Bridge to Academic Success in English program and a Senior Banquet Server. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Social and Ecological Sustainability, a Master’s Degree in Sustainability Management, and multiple degrees from the University of Waterloo encompassing Environmental Studies, Philosophy, and Psychology.
