Doug Opheim

Chief Financial Officer at RSM US

Doug Opheim was named CFO of RSM US LLP (RSM) in 2010 and also served as executive partner-administrative services. He oversaw the firm's national practice standards group until the firm bought RSM McGladrey from H&R Block, an acquisition for which he was responsible for securing the bank financing. As CFO, he also oversees the firm’s information technology systems.

Opheim joined the firm in 1980 as a staff accountant. He spent 16 years working in the Des Moines, Iowa, Minneapolis, and Elkhart, Ind., offices. During that time he helped re-engineer the firm’s auditing process. He was admitted to the partnership in 1988.

In 1996, Opheim became a regional coordinator of audit and accounting, based in Minneapolis. He oversaw the quality control aspects of the firm’s audit and accounting practice for 13 offices. One of his projects was the development of the first-ever paperless audit for midsized businesses—a means of streamlining and improving the quality of the audit process.

That same year, Opheim joined the firm's Board of Directors. During his three years on the board, he helped accomplish the merger of the firm’s tax and consulting services into H&R Block.

From 1999 to 2003, Opheim was the senior vice president of finance and information and chief financial officer of RSM McGladrey, Inc. In 2003, he was named executive vice president of operations, and became chief operating officer of RSM McGladrey in 2006.
