Business Rules Engine Specialist

We are looking for a Business Rules Engine Specialist to help build our payroll product. As a Business Rules Engine Specialist, you will be in the intersection of Operations and Tech. You will have an active role in design and development of solutions within the third-party applications. You will be responsible for the execution of the business rule management process, including the creation and implementation of the business rules.

You will be responsible for understanding the customer and business needs, defining the business processes and translating these into the rules engine. You are also required to update business rules to reflect changes, consider potential impacts to the system, manage risks that could interfere with the implementation of business rules, maintain traceability of rules, and ensure that business rules meet pre-defined quality criteria.


  • Plans, develops, and implements projects in the rules engine
  • Acts as SME for the rules engine
  • Writes detailed project documentation including business requirements, functional requirements, and technical specification
  • Leads and directs user testing
  • Works with internal teams and third-party vendors to complete projects
  • Troubleshoots applications and provides production support
  • Maintains enhancement and backlog list


  • Bachelor in Computer Science or related field 2 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or equivalent business and technical experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • In depth understanding of if / then statements and loops are essential
  • Strong experience building process, data, and business process modeling diagrams
  • Experience with process modeling tools like Visio, LucidChart, IBM Blueworks
  • Experience in project management, planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams; working with programmers, coordinators, technical support staff, and vendors
  • Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
  • Self-learner and self-starter spirit
  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple tasks and systems simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills & customer-focused attitude
  • SQL or MS Access database experience is a plus
  • ITIL or ITSM certification as a plus
