Axel Ulrich

Axel Ulrich has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Axel started their career at Siemens in 1996, where they worked as an Application Engineer and Advanced Engineer, specializing in power plant development and CAD systems support. Axel then transitioned to managerial roles, leading IT application development, project management, and application support at Siemens Power Corporation.

In 2006, Ulrich moved to the hospitality industry and joined Starwood Vacation Ownership, which later became Marriott Vacations Worldwide. Over the years, they held various positions, including Manager of IT Internet Application Development and Director of IT Application Development and Integration. In these roles, Ulrich focused on transforming legacy applications, implementing web services integration, and developing an Enterprise Information Management program.

From 2012 to 2020, Ulrich took on leadership positions within Vistana Signature Experiences, a subsidiary of Starwood Vacation Ownership, which involved forming and leading the Mobile Development team and collaborating on the re-engineering of the Sales Center Experience. Axel also played a vital role during the separation of Vistana Signature Experiences from Starwood Hotels, transitioning web applications to AWS and integrating CDN and WAF for improved performance and security.

Since 2022, Ulrich has been working as the Director of Software Development at Sagent, where they continue to contribute their expertise in overseeing software development activities.

Throughout their career, Ulrich has shown a strong focus on digital solutions, implementation of CIAM systems, and the adoption of Microservices engines to deliver enhanced inventory search and booking capabilities. Axel has also demonstrated skills in team leadership, collaboration, and technological advancements such as implementing Architect Engineer data exchange networks and 3D scan applications.

Axel Ulrich received their Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Computer Aided Engineering and Design from Hochschule Stralsund. Axel completed this degree from 1992 to 1996.

Additionally, Axel has obtained several certifications related to programming and computer science. In 2019, they completed the courses "Learning C++," "Programming Foundations: Algorithms," and "Programming Foundations: Object-Oriented Design" on LinkedIn. In 2020, they obtained certifications in "C++ Design Patterns: Creational," "C++ Templates and the STL," "C++ Essential Training," "Web Servers and APIs using C++," "Introducing Functional Programming in C++," "Code Clinic: C++," and "C++ Best Practices for Developers," all from LinkedIn. In 2020, they also completed the course "Fundamentals of Dynamic Programming" on LinkedIn and "Graph Search, Shortest Paths, and Data Structures" on Coursera.

Most recently, in 2022, Axel obtained certifications in "Learning C#" and "C#: Collections" from LinkedIn. Axel also completed certifications in "C#: Interfaces and Generics" and "C#: Delegates, Events, and Lambdas" from LinkedIn in the same year.
