Cary Breese

Executive Partner at Salt Creek Capital

Cary joined Salt Creek Capital in early 2023, bringing nearly 20 years of experience as CEO leading successful businesses in the technology, business services and healthcare industries. Cary is a highly versatile, hands-on operator who leads with a consultative management style to create a culture of teamwork, exceptional customers service and employee fulfilment.

Prior to joining Salt Creek Capital, Cary was CEO and co-founder of a technology-leveraged healthcare company, NowRx, that deployed advanced software, logistics and robotic automation to build a rapid growth fulfillment and distribution service for the pharmaceutical industry. Under Cary’s leadership the company achieved a 5-year revenue CAGR of 65% and grew annual revenue from zero to $30 million. Cary built the team from 2 to 120 employees and expanded the footprint from 1 to 15 fulfilment centers operating across five states. NowRx was winner of the 2022 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 award.

Previously, Cary identified an opportunity to acquire a business unit from a Fortune 500 financial services firm, and after leading the negotiation, due diligence and acquisition processes, led the new independent company as CEO for more than 7 years. Cary refocused strategy and operations, realigned staff, reduced expenses and developed a new automated web-based risk assessment and processing platform that later formed the central motivation for the ultimate acquisition of the company. He successfully exited the business via acquisition by a large regional financial services firm, generating 18x ROI (cash on cash).

Early in his career Cary led a $100 million financial services business unit for CIGNA, a large fortune 500 financial services company. Cary developed and implemented a new sales strategy and commission plan, realigned a 50+ member operations team, won several new large national accounts, and successfully implemented a new advanced OCR technology that dramatically reduced costs, increasing profits by 12% CAGR.

Cary holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University, and has also completed Executive Education certificates from both Wharton Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management.
