Cherie Byars

Cherie Byars is a Senior Research Associate in Molecular Medicine at the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics at the University of Utah, with a broad teaching and research background in biology and genetics. Since September 2021, Cherie has served as a Guest Instructor for Granite School District, covering subjects including biology, French, Spanish, and special education. Cherie is also an Adjunct Professor of Biology at Salt Lake Community College, focusing on topics such as human biology and genetics. Previous roles include Director of Development at the Inclusion Center For Community and Justice, a Senior Consultant at Knudra Transgenics, and a Senior Scientist at the University of Barcelona, where project management involved neurodegeneration research using Drosophila melanogaster. Cherie's education includes a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the University of Utah and a post-graduate certificate in Sequence Analysis and Genomics from Johns Hopkins University.
