Niambi Clay

Niambi Clay is currently the Executive Director of Equity, Social Justice and Inclusion at the San Mateo County Office of Education. Niambi has dedicated their career to fighting for educational opportunities for all students, especially those from underserved communities.

Clay began their career as an educational consultant before joining Oakland Unified School District as a Program Administrator in 2005. There, they oversaw the district's K-12 tutoring programs, ensuring compliance with all regulations and managing over $8 million in funds. Under their leadership, the program was recognized as a national model by the Department of Education.

In 2010, Clay joined Equal Opportunity Schools as the Chief Operating Officer. There they continued their work expanding access to education for all students. In 2018, they left Equal Opportunity Schools to take their current position at the San Mateo County Office of Education.

Throughout their career, Clay has been a leader in educational equity. Niambi has served on the CA Department of Education Steering Committee and was the lead on the SES Implementation Tools: Timelines. Niambi is committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed in school and reach their full potential.

Niambi Clay has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, a Master of Arts (MA) in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Stanford University Graduate School of Education, and a Linguistics degree from Stanford University. Niambi also has certification from California State University, Hayward in Mathematics Credential Certification.

Their manager is Nancy Magee, County Superintendent. They are on a team with Kris Shouse - Associate Superintendent, Educational Services Division, Lorrie Owens - CTO, Integrated Technology Services, and Claire Cunningham - Chief Deputy County Attorney.
