Richard McClellan

Richard McClellan, Jr. has a diverse work experience in the field of information security and technology. Richard is currently the Head of Information Security at Sana Biotechnology, Inc. Richard previously held the role of Head of Information Security and Compliance at PicnicHealth from December 2020 to June 2021. From November 2012 to December 2020, they worked at Invitae Corp as the Head of Information Security and Information Technology. Prior to that, they were the Director of Applications at Numerate Inc. from May 2012 to November 2012, and also served as a Founding Engineer/Senior Research Scientist at the company from April 2007 to May 2012. Their early professional experience includes working as a Senior Research Scientist at Pharmix Corp from 2003 to 2007.

Richard McClellan, Jr. holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a B.S. in Chemistry from California State University, Fullerton. Richard has also obtained certifications in Ego Free Leadership from Learning as Leadership in 2023 and as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in May 2019.
